Beacon Information Systems
Last session, members of the House and Senate were pushing for the passage of a medical marijuana program in Pennsylvania. A key area of concern and interest was guaranteeing that the drug was adequately being tracked from seed to sale. Lawmakers who were hesitant to support the legislation were eager to see the necessary checks and balances in place before advancing the legislation.
Our team assisted Beacon Information Design in sharing details on their compliance technology to provide a comprehensive system to ensure accountability while providing legal access for patients and caregivers to medical marijuana. The meetings helped alleviate lawmakers’ concerns. Ultimately bi-partisan legislation was enacted reflecting necessary compliance provisions for a newly regulated industry.
Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries
Greenlee works close with ISRI, a nationwide trade association for scrap recycling companies, to monitor any issues relating to the scrap business.
In 2013, facing an onslaught of bills that would have directly negatively impacted ISRI member companies bottom line, Greenlee and ISRI collectively identified and convened a group of stakeholders to address the real and perceived issues in the scrap law at that time. This diverse group included trade groups representing farm interests, utility interests, prosecuting attorneys, elected officials, and law enforcement officers. Through working closely with this group and legislators, Greenlee was able to guide Act 79 of 2014 into law.
Alliance of Approved Private Schools
During the 2016-17 legislative session, to ensure all dollars appropriated to Approved Private Schools went to the schools, our team added language to the Approved Private Schools funding formula in the School Code bill to allow funds to remain within the line item. With these funds, these schools serve more students and provide more services to the vulnerable population they represent.
